Yes. If the computer is never moved -- especially while
it is on -- it's no big deal. I had a 7100 with no
sleds on the HD or CD-ROM. I've had HDs in other Macs
with no sled as well. It has nothing to do with the
function of the HD. You can use styrofoam to keep it
from shifting if you want. Use like 1" strips so you
don't interfere with the cooling process.
