Okay.  I started this post and i guess i should end it.

I was getting a Mac TV without a sled and until I found one I just wanted to
know if I could *temporarily* install a hard drive without a sled by
"thinking different", if you will.  I have finally found a sled, hard drive,
and adapter so it is now a mute point.  But now I know that I will never
subject an LC 5xx or Mac TV to any long term use without the proper HD
support.
