This thread is as silly as "you'll fry your eyes if you
open your compact Mac." HD sleds are optimum, yes.
However, they have nothing to do with the function of
the drive. If you ad hoc a fix that (a) keeps the drive
level and aligned, and (b) suppresses the side-to-side
movement it should work fine for about 10 years. Right
now I'm working on the design of a case for a Mac. If I
remain locked into the obvious I will get nowhere. To
create other ways for things to work you first have to
find out what they require to work. Then you can think different.
