Do you ever actually *read* somebody else's post? I
mean just stop and read them? Or do you just look for
silly scary points you can score? If you secure the
up-and-down and side-to-side of the drive it will be
fine. Absolutely fine. That's a fact. Newtonian and
otherwise. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing --
as Alex Pope pointed out since I doubt you paid any
attention to the literature of knowing and growing --
and you're a perfect example. You have a grasp of the
given and not much else as exemplified by your constant
referrals to the FAQ. Look at how a thing works and
then you can be creative. That's the driving force
behind design and the Apple designers know it but for
all the tech and spec you have you lack the basic
humanity to envision. That is what is behind "think
different." That's what separates a hack from a hacker.
To me, knowing the machines is one thing. They can take
me places and I can take them places. But you can't go
anywhere when some visionless, gutless, egomaniac
stifles any variation with fear and proclamations of
doom. If you can't get a hard drive to work without a
sled you have no business giving anyone advice about
anything. It's a trivial problem. This list is to
inspire people to control their machines.
I would much rather give real, inspiring advice than
doom-and-gloom despair that is based on a lack of
understanding of how the machines work. And that spits
on how people need to be creative with their Macs. Get
creative, That's what Macs are about.
