Well, more like the Herringbone disease (item 4 of Hamada's page, which is at <http://www.se30.ch/index.shtml> ??? ) Anyhow, I quote my paper copy rather freely: Symptoms: Monitor is wavy and shows herringbone rasters (vertical zig-zag) on startup. Diagnosis: Very likelly the Flyback transformer, item T2 on the analog board. First, I'd check for loose solder joints over there. Hamada's page talks about getting a new transformer. Desoldering a flyback is deep sh*t. Well, at least knee-deep. They also say which versions to get and to avoid. Good luck, mart -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
