p.s., if it's molded from black plastic, it should be black on the inside as well, at least anywhere there isn't a shielding coating. given earlier comments it seems possible that apple may have used a poor paint or even a cheap dye or other coating rather than the usual practice of molding the color in. in this case i'd say a fresh coat of paint is your best option, though it might be worth removing the junk first. it won't be authentic, which obsesses some collectors, but it will look authentinc and actually be better.
