Interesting -- maybe the stuff in the US is different. The product sold as "Back to 
Black" in the UK is a silicon polish that brings up a nice shine on plastic products 
briefly but is slowly dispersed by washing or rain. Enough polish usually remains to 
ensure that it reacts with any paint products that are later applied.
