Yo compacters everywhere, To Gamba's thread looking for SE/30 HD power numbers, our Philip Stortz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> responded:

When I was dumber and foolisher than I am now about these compacts, I created a wonderful bench tool. Having pallet loads of SE and SE/30 Macs to refurbish or scrap as was dictated, I needed a better way to test and mess with parts than the tedious process required to swap in and out parts from these compacts. The Classic/II isn't so bad. The Plus and earlier have nothing in them. The SE and SE/30 are just plain tedious after the novelty of the first few. What I did was take my first trashed SE case and cut huge holes on the bottom, sides, and back. Through them, I can meter the battery, adjust all those pots and slugs, swap in cards, and trial hard and floppy drives by hanging the cables out the back. With SCSI ribbon and power wye cables, I hang on another raw drive in tandem to test the drive or boot and test the compact from a known good drive. I find this useful. No SE or SE/30 power supply has ever blanched the slightest at powering up two hard drives this way. I still do it because it works for me. I do this two hard drive thing with other Macs with never a problem. I do believe that these power suppies have greater than an 8 watt margin.
