>>Has anyone built a custom splitter card? >Not AFAIK, but that oughta be one of the easier projects.
An easy electrical design, but not a make-it-at-home pc board design, 'cause there's 360 connector pins to interconnect. That's gonna take at least 4 layers. which means plated thru holes. Of course one could always hand wire it.....ouch. >>Is the Asante ethernet card the preferred card for these projects? >Yes, mostly because it's one of the few that allows manual slot address >assignment, I think. Sort of like IRQs on a PC - most Mac cards "just work" >but when you're doing something the Mac was never designed for, like this, you >need that capability of manual address assignment. And isn't it true that only Asante made SE/30 enet cards that have PDS pass-thru slots? Gamba <http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2> -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
