It may be in a file format used by one of the chip programmers,
though I think there are supposed to be a few formats that are
universal or near-universal for the chip programmers. Pretty much
all the chip programmers require a windows/DOS machine to use.
Building one (a chip programmer) for the Mac would be an interesting
project too, but a pretty nice one is under $300 and the PC to run it
is virtually free (286 or better required) so it would be an
interesting exercise, not a money saving endeavor.

Anyway, the problem with the above file, is that it is all one file.
One would need to split it into four interleaved parts (or 2 for X16
parts) in order to program chips for a ROM SIMM. That's probably
pretty easy using something like Perl, but I don't like to introduce
extra avenues for fiddling and error.

Unfortunately, I am shamefully mono-lingual, unless you count the
bits of German, Greek and Spanish that I've retained from many years
ago. French, though, is right out. I did manage to find the page
with the assortment of downloadable ROM images. Thank you.

Ah, interesting stuff. It should be possible to use the files they
are producing, but I feel more warm and fuzzy reading it off the
chips directly.
