Well, yeah, you convert them to AIFF. AIFF is uncompressed, straight audio. Even my old 8mhz 286 I had years and years ago could play uncompressed audio. The problem with mp3s is they are very highly compressed, and have to be decompressed to play. They can be converted to AIFF and played, sure, but to play them on the fly like faster computers do takes a bit of processor oomph. With mpegdec and.. the other program I'm blanking on with a similar name I can barely play stereo at 22k on my 840AV. And even with that, it renders the computer inoperable for any other use.
