Yes, I've done this about a dozen or so times - never caused a problem yet. The faceplate is a lot lighter then you think with regards to the strength of the faceplate. I think it looks pretty neat, because no one thinks you have a cd-rom and then BOOM! there it is hehehe. I believe stealthing drives has become quite popular with the PC Mod community, I've seen it about 25,000 times so I don't it much anymore (Hate trying to look original, and end up looking like everyone else out there, ya know).
If you cut it, a stationary bandsaw is probably the best way to go. I've used dremels, jigsaws, etc etc and the bandsaw makes the cleanest fastest cut out of all of them. ****************** Jeremy D.
