One of the true pleasures of using a full page display was the ability to
write and view a full page of text in MS Word (or MacWrite ...or whatever WP
you favored), without having to scroll around on the screen. I *loved* using
an FPD for that reason alone ...I didn't understand just _how_ much I'd come
to appreciate how simply **efficient** writing was without having to scroll
all around a page, until that old Lapis (display) died on me one sad day.

I keep looking for an old FPD around here, in the thrift stores (the sucker
weighed a tad over 50 lbs AIR) ...I'd *make room* on my desk for one (yes,
I still use the SE30 for writing chores & such) ...at which time I guess
I'll have to find the relevant vid' card.

...When new, compact Macs with big displays were popular for creating
drawings, artwork etc. When the job was ready, the owner could unhook the
Mac and take it to their bureau to print it out from the Mac that had the
appropriate software and fonts installed. The SE/30 is still useful for
similar applications today.
