Happy new year all.
Not sure how it happened but I seem to have ended up with a second Mac !
Odd I am sure that I told myself that one was enough, I do hope this isn't
contagious ;-)
A colleague at work has kindly donated a second SE, a bit dirty, HDD dead,
floppy reads (and boots) about 50% of the time. I have just taken it apart
to set to the cleaning process and discovered a board that I didn't expect
plugged into the PDS slot, it also runs to a strange 24(?) pin D style port
on the back of the case, looks like a mini centronics port. The board
itself is marked: National Instruments ASSY180390-01 REV.D1 S/N 01671.
The board is about half the size of the motherboard. One jumper on the
board, just says DMA I think, any clues ?
Thanks for your indulgance. Mike
The name National Instruments is a dead give away. NI (http://www.ni.com/) make industrial and scientific measurement and control interfaces for computers. Most likely your card is a GPIB (general purpose interface bus) controller.
Here's a brief description of the bus and a picture of the 24-pin "Centronics-style" connector it uses

There's a PDF of the "Getting Started" manual at the National Instruments web site for an SE/30 version of the card. I couldn't find one for the SE. You may also be able to download the software for the card from there too.
