I will see what I can do with all that great info!
I had tried apples site all over, along with several
other website... I just don't see why Apple won't offer it.

I actually already had the back off, that was a peice of cake.
The troubles I am having is that when I start it up, I get the
sadMAC & error#041080 under that. The floppy isn't working
properly as it's very hard to get the diskette out (I
have to use a paperclip) or in. So, that could be the root of my troubles! The floppy, I hope. I actually found a place that has
them sometimes, but I guess I won't hear from them until monday.
Thanks again, for the info/help!
Kim

Thanks Kim.

Jeff or Stuart and a few others are far better at explaining the possible cause and repair to get the floppy back up.

You may have luck looking through the archieve for Jeff's floppy drive cleaning tips, this may help alittle.

I remove the drive from the Mac and then pull it from it's cover. I blast it
good with canned air, then dust it with a model-sized paintbrush. Then, I
spray silicon lube into a plastic medicine dose cup. I dip the paint brush
into it and dab the bottom slider, the square metal piece that ejects the
disk, at the retaining points. There are four.

I dab the eject motor gears. I dab the moving arms on the top of the drive.
I work a junk disk in the drive a dozen or so times. Without reassembling
the Drive, I rehook the drive cable and turn on the Mac. Setting the drive
in a good unobstructed and non-shorting (electrically) place, I put the junk
disk in the drive and let the Mac eject it many times until it seems to work
freely.

I shut down the Mac. I spray the drive with canned air to remove excess oil.
Then it all gets reassembled.

Jeff

Its the best quote from Jeff I can find right now and I'm sure he'll add something to it if need be, the list is busier during the week than the week end. I hope I quoted close to the right info, thanks Jeff.

The sad mac error is not likely to be floppy related but thats a guess, Ill go through and try to find something on your error code.
When no floppy is loaded what do you get on the screen?
Will the floppy eject on a working 128k if the mouse button is held down during startup like other macs.

I'm glad you survived taking the back off, be very carefull of the tube when replacing it, a little care and common sence will keep you from getting a jolt, picture what you are going to do and take your time. :) Nothing gets fixed well in a hurry.

Good luck, maybe another mac is in your future to help with the tranfer of the system images. :)
