I actually get the same thing, with floppy in or not. I get the sadmac & error#041080
But like I said, you have a Very hard time getting a diskette back in. I thought it would have ruined the diskette when I went through what I did to get it out! So the floppy drive is definetly not working or at least correctly. I read that a lot of those got gummed-up as you mentioned.
