Here are my two pences about the SCSI drive problem. I'm not an SCSI expert, but perhaps this two ideas may help...
First one: as someone has remembered, the Classic II does have internal termination, but the Plus doesn't have it. Thus, a pass-through terminator may be already attached to the drive's cable at the computer's end (AFAIK, this is needed most times with a Plus to terminate the chain in the Plus' end because Pluses don't have internal termination). A pass-through terminator looks like a gender changer: it's a little box with two simmilar connectors (a male and a female) that goes between the cable's plug and the Plus. If you have one of those, removing it may solve the problem. Second one: it's sad to say that, but... if the drive worked correctly for a day or so with the Classic II and now the SCSI utilities can detect it but can't mount or format it, chances are high that it was 'touched' by the Plus' power supply failure and is broken. Try to plug the drive to another Macintosh and see if it works. All I can say is that I hope I'm wrong and all you have is a termination problem.
