IIRC, the SE (as most compacts) plays sound at 8 bit, mono, 22 khz. With an
uncompressed format, that equals to about 1.3 Mb per minute, or about 4.6 Mb for
an average 3' 30" song. Storing audio in SE's drive at a higher quality is a
loss of space and processing power (the SE will have to downsample and/or
downmix it before playing). I don't know much about Macintosh sound formats, but
perhaps there will be a format that allows you to reduce the 1.3 Mb per minute
rate by compressing the audio (ADPCM algorythms in the PC world come to mind -
they allow you a virtually lossless 1:4 compression rate with a very low CPU
ussage on play).
