I'd point yo to The Asimov Project, a public FTP server at
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/ (split into server/path if you're
not using a browser). It has literally thousands of Apple II disk images, and
is by far the greatest Apple II software collection on the Internet. Please
beaware that some of that software, even if it isn't sold nowadays, isn't
public domain or abandonware, so it may be illegal to download it if you
don't have an original copy. Other problem would be how to transfer the disk
images into real 5.25" diskettes. Even if the IIe Emulation card will easy
the proccess a lot, I think you would like to get more help from the guys at
the Apple II list (a2list, also hosted on LEM).

You'll need an Apple II joystick. You won't be able to use a joystic designed
for the PC or the Atari 2600 (they won't even plug). As a rule of thumb,
Apple II joysticks have a male DB-9 plug (AFAIK, they are the only ones to
use that connector).
