It seems to vary more from card to card as opposed to machine or model. I 
wasn't hit with it on a Mac, my SE can't talk to anyone else, but it popped 
up with some older Suns, SS10's to be exact. They were manufactured around 
the same time as a number of the Asante cards, (early 90's), and have onboard 
10BaseT nics. One worked fine with a 10/100 switch, the other had to have a 
hub between them.

So its sort of a gamble with early 10baseT cards, will they play nice with the 
autosencing or not. Chances are the earlier the card was made, the less 
chance it will work with the 10/100 stuff without some help.
