Mac v. PC superiority is really moot here ... even if you could network a PC, who actually enjoyed it? Actually Apple got it right the 3rd time (as far as performance is concerned) -- if Jobs hadn't stuck his ego into the construction process, the Plus may have been Apple's first offering Mac -- OTOH, it may not have looked anything like the endearing icon that ultimately rolled off the assembly line. For all it's ability and similarity to the Mac, it's predecessor the Lisa is not a very embraceable computer. Moreover, individuals and students would not have been able to afford it. There would have been a fan! In that respect the iMac is a lot like the revival of the original and many people LOVE theirs. But, it's not the same, it's too big to be hugable. There's nothing portable about it -- having lugged a few around for my friends! It's compromised to be a workhorse with that big monitor. It invites you to immerse yourself in it's technological world. The older Macs invited you to use them in your world.
But at the end of the day, do you REALLY love the old Macs because they still work as well today as they did then? That you can still network them today? Because they are so much better a computer experience than PCs?
