Indeed. And by late MacOS 8 or so, it was a work of art, using a
caching just-in-time MC68k to PPC compiler that was the envy of the
industry and is still about the best there has ever been.

Oh good grief no. There's loads of 68k code in 9.2.2 - try installing
PowerPeek on a 9.2.2 Mac and watch how much of the time the indicator
is red instead of green!
