Apple System install CDs. Often a problem will develop with a HD
overnight
that the Finder can't cope with, but Norton or Disk First aid can
easily
mount and fix, restoring things back to normal.
FYI, for clarification of my earlier post: no version of Apple Talk
running
under any pre-OSX System (or even OSX.1? I think) works with OSX.4.
No stock
version of Apple Talk running under OS 8.5 or earlier works with
any version
of OSX.

Second: of course you cannot check a drive that doesn't show or
mount, but the System folder, one of its files or the enabler or the
whole file system on the HD could be corrupted, so you have to put
this back for later tests. I have no idea what NSD is (Norton Startup
Disk perhaps? Or a typo?), but what about NAD?
