ooh, now this is exciting.

my guess is that if you don't put enough simulations into the opening,
it acts very similarly to a handicap in your opponent's favor.

i.e. you will play nearly random opening moves and get crushed as
a result.

this is for an opponent who concentrates his time in the midgame versus
one who spends the same amount of time on every single move.  by the
way, i would agree that a front-weighted MC player would lose to a
back-weighted MC player, since everything would die during yose.

this is a very easy experiment to run, by the way.  :)
