So, as usual, you left just a few bits out. <They mention that some major camera makers have no plans to upgrade their cameras to work with Vista.>
They mention "major" camera makers? They mention Sigma. They don't mention Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Kodak, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic, Fuji, Casio, HP, or Samsung. Or anyone else. Just Sigma. Translating "Sigma" as "some major camera makers" is just a wee bit of a stretch, don't you agree? You also neglected to point out that "no plans to upgrade" only refers Sigma's older models. Their newer ones are already Vista compatible. And you managed to omit this: "All is not lost since you can always transfer images using a CompactFlash card reader, which I guess most people do anyway." <"many cameras will need firmware/software upgrades to be Vista compatible and some won't work at all..."> Neither the author nor you provide any evidence whatsoever to support this assertion. It certainly is contrary to my experience. <"What's this got to do with Microsoft's plan to overthrow JPEG..." Shutterbug sounds bitter.> Well, you got me there. I guess this bit, which is in the same paragraph, does sound awfully bitter: "[MS's replacemawfullyt for JPEG] supports a wide range of features, including multiple color formats for display or print, fixed or floating point high-dynamic range, wide gamut image encoding, lossless or high-quality lossy compression, decoding for multiple resolutions, minimal overhead for format conversions or transformations.
