Unless your new machine has the same chipset and other hardware that your
current machine has, all you will get, most likely, are blue screens and
reboots.

Like the more infamous HAL, XP's HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) won't do
that either, Mike.  (Google is replete with sure-fire methods of replacing
the HAL, but I wouldn't count on that.)

This is the proper way to dual boot between Vista and XP:

VM route unless you need XP for high-end needs.
