I checked, rechecked, and double-triple checked the Blue Tooth function on
the TX, and also within Navigator's software. I was going to do a "hard" reset
on the TX, but that means reloading everything -- including TomTom, which then
needs a new access code from TomTom (not supplied by Palm!). Very frustrating.
The whole system had worked a week-end ago with no problems. Nothing changed
(that I know of) during the week, but suddenly no GPS-TX connection. The TX
did not see the GPS at all, and the GPS appeared to be sending a signal via
BlueTooth based on its flashing little lights. Rather than deal with the
frustration, I decided to just deal with my checkbook.

My thanks to everyone for your input! I went out this evening and bought a
Garmin Nuvi350 at BJ's Wholesale Club. Sam's had it about $20 cheaper, but BJ's
had it in stock. The difference between BJ's and Sam's Club, and between
Circuit City and Best Buy, however, was substantial -- like over $100 less at
BJ's
and Sam's. So I guess this year's membership has paid off. The Nuvi350 looks
like it will do fine for me. My phone is not BlueTooth so I won't be using that
connection, but it will be interesting to see if I can download and play
audio books. And on our one brief trial run of the Nuvi, it took us to a
(known)
location the way we would normally travel. It's ability to see satelites seems
to be much more powerful than the PalmOne GPS I have now replaced. It can see
the satelites from within the car (propped up on the cup holder) rather than
stuck to the windshield, so that's probably where it will sit for the
foreseeable future.

I really appreciate all the help and advice! I'll keep you posted as we use
this little gadget over the next week or so, but for now it looks like a
winner.
