I have heard this schtick before Mike.
What ends up being found out is that costs are level across the
board. Where you might save in one area, you more for in another area.
But here is the kicker. The wages are also usually lower in those
low rent areas, so the net effect is less money.
I lived rurally for a number of years, and found that I paid much
more for my groceries than the people who lived in the cities. No
competition. I also found out that the utility folks could care
less. (Cable phone etc.) as we are not the paying customers.
It just gets frustrating being told well because you live there, you
deserve what happens to you.
