Hi Jeff,
The output from your log is exactly what we're looking for. Once usblp0
is registered, cups will be able to access it, properly. Try going
through the CUPS config again - remember, if you restart, you need to
reload that printer module, since its not a permanent thing. If you'd
like this done every time you boot, try appending the following line to
/etc/rc.d/rc.local
/sbin/modprobe printer
That should take care of loading the module, so the printer should
always be available. Once I had gotten my Xerox M750 detected in the
USB subsystem, the printer control panel in the 'Mandrake Control
Center' - in the 'Hardware' section, was able to configure it properly.
If you select 'local printer' when you add a printer to the system, I
believe it should pick up on usblp0. If it doesn't, lemme know. Once
it does this, it should try to find an appropriate driver - good luck
