Then let me pose this question ... if I bought the CD's from you folks,
should the install process work? Or is it a problem with my G3 Powerbook ...
if so could it be a problem with the DVD drive?? The only problem with that
is I do not have a normal cdrom for the powerbook ... I mean I could borrow
a USB CDRW Drive and try to install using that as the cdrom but I don't have
a normal powerbook CD drive. Whats the next suggestion??

Are you also having install freeze problems? AFAIK, Sean is the only one
that has reported this behavior, so I don't think we have any
across-the-board issues with home-burned CD's. A lot of people have
burned their own ISO's in the course of the beta testing. Since he cannot
regain control of the machine, I'm still tending to believe he is hitting
a kernel panic at the point of installing RPM's. If it's an issue with
the installer, I don't know why his machine would be any different than
any other, he has more than enough RAM for the install. The things that
are generally an issue between the various flavors of PPC machines are:
1) being able to boot at all, either due to yaboot, BootX or kernel
incompatibility, or the CD
2) X - forcing an install in text mode and manual X setup post install
3) lack of drivers in the install kernel for SCSI subsystem
4) a few cases of subtle issues in the partition table setup, mostly when
LinuxPPC is already on the machine
