k, thanks. I tried disabling v4l before (and glx). but, didn't take dbe
ever. in this case it has happen only once that my screen crapped out .
if it happens again, then I will do as you say here.
if it happens again that means that glx is not the problem and maybe I
could use it again :-) xscreensaver molecules don't work without it :-)
eventhough it's pretty darng slow on the ibook (it flies on my nvidia
card in my other desktop)
