I tried entering gendepslist at the prompt, but it doesn't do anything useful: bash: gendepslist: command not found Maybe I should keep where I belong: on the newbie list. > > > Most of the other packages are retrieved and installed fine, but of > > course the installation doesn't work. > > I'm FTP'ing to an other computer and logging in as root. > > > > strange ftp root account is not disabled! I agree, but I don't know a whole lot about FTP. I tried in a lot of ways. First setting up an NFS server, which didn't work. Although I got in touch with the server. Then my attempts with FTP weren't successful either, so I tried from a prompt and saw that from the FTP servers I tried to install kBeroFTP responded. (I also tried to enable the one from LinuxConf). Anyway, I logged in as root and it worked. Then I looked in which directory I was, and made an offset from there to get to my installation directory. I guess I'd better do a lot more reading before I attempt something of this kind, but at a certain point I can't resist to actually try to get things going. I'll get back to you with some actual error messages, that will prolly help you more. Jo
