in fact, i made an error, it's hdlist that must be updated. It's quite easy:

I'll suppose you have your mirror in /mnt/mirror.
If you do:

cd /mnt/mirror
ls

you should get 

COPYING  Mandrake  RPM-PGP-KEYS  VERSION  doc       index.htm  misc
INSTALL  README    RedHat        apps     dosutils  lnx4win


now all you have to do is:

misc/genhdlist .

in fact, you seems to have come nearly to the point!
ftp root account are usually disabled, but if it works, that's nice :)
