No, if you are going to propose to the newbie to use a tool which isn't part of basesystem, you should be able to tell them how to install it easily, which basically comes down to: # urpmi mc BTW, I haven't had to tell a user to use an in the last two releases ... Leaving out mc by default > makes Mandrake fall short in this regard. I don't agree. Having rfbdrake is more important to most people for support than having mc, and mc is trivial to install. Anyway, a better goal is to prevent the user ever having to use a text editor, such as if X crashes at startup, ask the user if the configuration tool (XFdrake) should be run.
