So, should we install smbclient by default (even if the user unchecks
Network Client)? An ssh server is also useful in assisting a newbie
remotely, maybe that should be installed by default too??

No, if you are going to propose to the newbie to use a tool which isn't
part of basesystem, you should be able to tell them how to install it
easily, which basically comes down to:

# urpmi mc

BTW, I haven't had to tell a user to use an in the last two releases ...
XFdrake is enough to get them up to an editor they don't need help
learning (even mc is difficult for some people who have never seen a
console before).

Well, if you did check it, and it wasn't installed, maybe you need to
file a bug on install.

I don't agree. Having rfbdrake is more important to most people for
support than having mc, and mc is trivial to install.

Anyway, a better goal is to prevent the user ever having to use a text
editor, such as if X crashes at startup, ask the user if the
configuration tool (XFdrake) should be run.
