------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-09 17:54 ------- What I did or didn't check during install is irrelevant to what this bug is about: => always install by default. On my installs, console tools always gets checked, but I have no control over what newbie does when he installs. When newbie doesn't have mc installed, my job helping newbie is made harder, especially if helping remotely. IIRC, on rc1, I did check console tools during install (as is always the case), and found mc was not checked. IIRC, that's what reminded me this bug (fix) was needed. If we want Mandrake to be the best there is, support, and the ability to support, must be as good as we can reasonably make it. Leaving out mc by default makes Mandrake fall short in this regard. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: RESOLVED creation_date: description: Every OS should have an OFM installed by default. On Linux, mc is the preeminent OFM. Without an OFM, I find another OS that has one. It shouldn't be necessary to go through individual package selection just for this one important package. http://www.softpanorama.org/OFM/ See also bug 5175
