------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-09 19:14 ------- I have the same problem running Mandrake 9.1, I also see "could not get user name from user id" in my .xsession-error when I login as LDAP user, if I login as local user, kde looks fine. FYI. gnome and other services are working properly with ldap.. so I am sure ldap is working. here are my packages: pam_ldap-164-1.1mdk kdeadmin-3.1-8mdk kdelibs-common-3.1-58.2mdk kdebase-nsplugins-3.1-83.4mdk kdeartwork-kde-classic-3.1-3mdk galaxy-kde-0.2-22.1mdk kdemultimedia-devel-3.1-10mdk kdepim-3.1-17mdk kde-i18n-zh_CN.GB2312-3.1-1mdk kde-i18n-zh_TW.Big5-3.1-1mdk kdegraphics-3.1-9.1mdk kdebase-3.1-83.4mdk kdenetwork-3.1-31mdk kdenetwork-devel-3.1-31mdk kdesdk-3.1-9mdk kde-i18n-ja-3.1-1mdk kdegraphics-devel-3.1-9.1mdk kdelibs-3.1-58.2mdk kdebase-devel-3.1-83.4mdk kde-i18n-en_GB-3.1-1mdk kdetoys-3.1-5mdk galaxy-kde-kwin-0.2-22.1mdk kdebase-servicemenu-1.0-7.2mdk kdemultimedia-3.1-10mdk kdelibs-devel-3.1-58.2mdk -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEW creation_date: description: KDE desktop is missing desktop icons, background (the default Mandrake wave background only), and does not show context sensitive menu when right-clicked. I have tried the following without resolving the problem: * emptied /tmp * removed ~/Desktop (which was recreated of course) * removed .kde (which was also recreated) This is my first bug report (!! I'm so ashamed!!), so please let me know if I am doing this wrong. I will read the documentation when I have time.
