When I started it, and logged in a again, I got a desktop. On my own cooker box, nscd does not run, and I have ad no problems. Both machines have a local LDAP slave, so, I don't see why there should be a difference ... I have tried the following without resolving the problem: * emptied /tmp * removed ~/Desktop (which was recreated of course) * removed .kde (which was also recreated) This is my first bug report (!! I'm so ashamed!!), so please let me know if I am doing this wrong. I will read the documentation when I have time.
