This problem only occurs when kpackage is attempted by a user. When
loaded by root, all works OK. This seems odd to me:

[root@CO3000655-A ron]# ls -l /usr/lib/libbz2*
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        53428 May  5 19:02
/usr/lib/libbz2.a
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           11 Jun  9 12:23
/usr/lib/libbz2.so -> libbz2.so.0
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           15 Jun  9 12:23
/usr/lib/libbz2.so.0 -> libbz2.so.0.9.0
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        50100 May  5 19:02
/usr/lib/libbz2.so.0.9.0
[root@CO3000655-A ron]#

drwxr-xr-x   20 root     root         4096 May  8 22:35
usr/
drwxr-xr-x   86 root     root        20480 Aug  1 14:43
lib/

So why cannot user kpackage see it?

The RPM is from l-m 7.1 = bzip2-0.9.5d-9mdk as installed by DrakX.

What is the fix? Install the bzip2 from cooker?

Is this a candidate for MandrakeUpdates?
