I concur with this sentiment. My Acer Extensa laptop also hangs when
trying to come back from a resume of any kind and when the mains power
is switched off. However, I still think there is a broader issue here -
why are apmd and swapper throwing, presumably untrapped, NULL pointer
exceptions that bring down the entire machine ?

A simple kernel oops logged some where would be sufficient ;-) or
perhaps a java or C# kernel to trap exceptions properly ! LOL !! ;-)
