That's gross.. And the problem needs to be fixed, it lies within the
/usr/lib/rpm/rpmrc file. Specifically, it seems to be somewhere in the
'buildarchtranslate' section of the file. Back up your rpmrc before
messing with things in here.
buildarchtranslate: osfmach3_i686: i386
Is this what's in your rpmrc file?
If so, change it, try to build a package, then reply back letting us all
know if that fixed the problem... : )
