This kind of info really needs to find a place to live, but it seems the
best place for it (manrakeuser.org) is no longer maintained :-(.

I am quite sure adding the "mute analog audio output jack, turn up wave
surround" would be quite popular, as well as the fact that one needs to
install alsa-utils to have your sound settings saved at shutdown
(otherwise, you need to read the init script, and urpmf for
/usr/sbin/alsactl).

Thierry, is there some way to ensure alsa-utils gets installed with
multimedia stuff if alsa is used?
