Hi, This is a known problem with Linux kernel versions 2.4.18 and 2.4.19: the HPT372 is not adequately supported, even though it is recognized. A proprietary driver is available from HPT's Web site, and it works, but it's awkward to install.
The problem is **not** Mandrake specific at all and there is little that the Mandrake team can do to remedy it at this stage. Solution: write to HPT a polite email asking them to open the source code for their 372 driver. After the 1000th email they receive I imagine they'll begin to understand... -- Andrew D.
