I got it ;-)) I restarted from scratch the procedure, and now it WORKS ! i'm going to describe precisely how it works on my box. My mistake was that i remove all the occurences of HPTXXX in ide-pci.c instead of only the DEVID lines as explained in the manual (e.g. 957 to 977 ONLY). After this, all the rest went fine. 15 minutes after, this sytem was up and running with all the partitions correctly seen and used ! THANKS a lot. Stef
