ataraid module may load successfully even if it doesn't detect
ataraid compatible device(s)..

We have not enough information. Can you attach the report.bug? 
To get it:

During install, switch to console 2 (by typing Ctrl Alt F2),
Put a dos floppy in floppy drive, and type "bug"

-> it will put report.bug on floppy  and this file interests us


Make sure you do so *after* the moment you loaded the ataraid
driver.
