I wonder if they have a guard, like when slicing bread? that way, all the
slices are even! the rechargeable ones sure would sound loads safer.

I've had exactly the same experience as Penny with cutting through the
cord of an electric knife.
in fact, not being contented with only one bang and flash, i had to repeat
the experience again a
year or two later. i now have a rechargeable cordless knife which i
wouldn't be without. My advice
for anyone looking at purchasing one of these is to try and go for a
cordless model. just my
thoughts.
