I never knew about splitting english muffins with a fork; interesting. I
always used fingers too, as others recommended, perhaps a regular knife
sometimes, but never would have thought of an electric knife, not even for a
bagle. That to me would be like using a sledge hammer to kill an ant!/grin
(and no disrespect meant). ... Or, maybe, if you have one, you could use a
bagle biter, or what some call, a guilloteen (I may have spelled that
wrong). When they were around, Easier Ways used to have them. It's a
two-piece thing where you stand the bagle up in the bottom, and the top
piece has like a triangular-shaped razor-kind-of-blade, so that when you
press down the bagle is sliced through the middle, or, at least, in half
(saying that because if you don't center the bagle just-so in the buttom
part, and judge that the blade part is centered, the halves might not be of
equal thickness, but it still beats slicing with a knife.
Most english muffins I've seen have the split started already, so to go the
rest o the way is usually easy.
