Hi Kathy,
You just poke the tines of the fork in, all around the edge of the
muffin, and then pull the two halves apart. It may be just as easy
just to pull them apart with your hands and fingers; that's what I usually do.
We have a bagel gillotine, and it is one of the most useful gadgets
in our kitchen!

go the rest o the way is usually easy.
