Are we talking about electric rice cookers? I have a microwave rice cooker that works wonderfully. To cook a big pot of brown rice in it: combine 2 cups brown rice, 5-1/3 cups water, some butter and salt in cooker. Cook in microwave uncovered for 45 minutes, or until rice is done. Comes out great.

A few friends of mine also have the same one. Here are some uses omlet Browning ground meat, Cooking noodles, Stew, Stir frying vegetables, boiling potatoes, and if you have a steamer just put water in the bottom and steam vegetables. When my children were small they told me that I used the rice cooker for everything but rice. My friend sometimes uses two rice cookers at once dependenting what they are making. I do have a website that has a few recipes for the rice cooker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Penny Reeder" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 16, 2010 4:03 PM Subject: Re: [CnD] Rice cooker: Rice Cooker Jambalaya > Hi Sheila, > I have the same kind of rice cooker because I couldn't find an accessible > version of the more complicated model -- I had wanted one with a porridge > setting, but none of those had an accessible way to set for various > outcomes, so I settled for the one I have.
