A finger bowl would be a good thing to have on the table when eating
messy ribs since that way you don't waste napkins. Warm water with a
little lemon juice in it is normally what goes into finger bowls for
this job, and when eating in some of the better restaurants those are
usually on the table for just this use. Once the sauce and grease are
off the fingers this is where cloth napkins come in well, the napkins
take minimal soiling since the finger bowl did its job and then unlike
paper napkins the cloth napkins can get laundered for future use. That
way, you cut down on some of the paper going into recycling and maybe
save a few trees in the process too.
