Exercise and portion control are the main things. I also dropped all
caffeine a while ago, so I didn't have that factor -- caffeine tends to
cause some rather annoying blood sugar problems, especially diet caffeinated
beverages, which will make someone eat bad things when they wouldn't
normally do so.
Plus I have a rule -- cheating should be infrequent but without any guilt. I
worked times when I can go off my normal diet to avoid the stress and
monotony of eating things that are just subsistence foods instead of foods I
like.
And I also dropped several things that I liked because they weren't healthy
for me, and those drops are pretty much for the rest of my life. There's
none of the "I can't eat this until I hit my weight goal" stuff, because
that's one very good way to gain it back again. It has to be a lifestyle
change.
And also, we're grazing animals, not gorging ones, so eating less more often
helps in dealing with the hunger pangs.
